History of the school

The Instituto Uruguayo Argentino (I.U.A.) was born as Centro Integral Preescolar (C.I.P.E.), a kindergarten authorized by the Consejo de Enseñanza Primaria, on March 28, 1978.
Its founder was Mrs. Mirna Palacios de Tassano, a teacher specialized in preschools, with a very definite vocation for the little ones and a prestigious teaching career in the department and in Montevideo.
Upon learning of this teacher’s desire to found a kindergarten, a group of parents, residents of the area, encouraged her to carry out her aspiration.
Year by year, the number of students increased, as well as the number of teachers and services.
Enthusiastic with the results and in line with the educational philosophy of the Institution, the parents requested the opening of Primary School for their children.
In 1981, in gratitude to the Uruguayan and Argentine parents, who placed their trust in the C.I.P.E., the school is called INSTITUTO URUGUAYO ARGENTINO in its new dimension, incorporating the new cycle, with the authorization of the Council of Primary Education that designates it with the Nº 8, continuing with a bilingual education, equally rich, deep in humanist values and ambitious in the projection of the future of its students.
In 1986, the Basic Secondary School Cycle began, authorized by the Central Board of Directors of ANEP, to which the Diversified High School was later added until all the orientations and options were completed.
