¡The project RAMAS is underway!

The Youth Participation Workshop, led by Prof. Javier Pereira for students in 9th grade EBI (3rd year of High School) provides students with a space in which each one knows, respects and promotes rights and at the same time assumes responsibilities, where the teacher proposes instances and processes of decision making, valuing our local, regional and global cultural characteristics as riches.
In relation to socio-environmental conflicts, the group reflects on their multidimensionality, their causes, and the incidence of human action in the evolution of the environmental balance; they raise questions and undertake personal and collaborative actions, seeking to respond ethically to emerging problems in different fields of knowledge, in everyday situations.
RAMAS Project From Punta del Este to the world!
The students of 9th grade 1, 2 and 3 of the IUA are in contact with their peers from the “Voltaire” School in France, with whom they have been corresponding since May: they write in Spanish and our youngsters in French. In the last exchange, the students of 9th grade 3 explained the first stage of the Ramas project.
Since May, our 9th graders 1, 2 and 3 have been in contact with Collège Voltaire in France. Our students maintain a correspondence in French, and the Collège Voltaire students write to us in Spanish. For our latest correspondence, the 9ème 3 students shared their Ramas Project, explaining the first stage to our correspondents.
RESPONSIBLE POSSESSION OF VEGETABLES
The relationship with nature – of which we are a part – becomes proactive: the students planted oak seeds and then willow and hydrangea clusters in the inner corridor leading to the kitchen, where they receive direct sunlight and ambient humidity protected from the characteristic wind of the coast.
The young people take care of the seedlings and observe their growth in healthy conditions, until they are delivered to the beneficiaries (parents, teachers, public) at the end of the course, on the condition that they leave their personal data enabling the traceability of each specimen.
September 25, 2023: the segments sprouted with force!
INFOGRAPHICS MADE BY THE STUDENTS:
OBJECTIVES
- Awareness of the risks to which the environment is exposed if we do not collaborate immediately in its defense and protection. In the first instance, this task has the scope of the IUA as an Institution, then it will be extended locally, globally and digitally.
- Safeguarding the plant and fungi kingdoms, the basis for the sustenance of the entire food chain and the production of oxygen.
GO FORWARD!
- To develop the concept of RESPONSIBLE HOLDING OF A VEGETABLE, students generate content, infographics and audiovisuals related to the Plant and Fungi kingdoms, pollution and the environment, which will be shared on social networks (TikTok, Instagram) and on the billboards assigned to the project, promoting dissemination in the educational community.
- QR codes will be installed next to the project logos in public areas of the College to provide more information. Stickers will also be produced to be affixed on vehicles and in some parts of the city.
- Conducting surveys (design, data collection, analysis) to assess the mastery of these topics by the different segments.
- Informative talks for kindergarten and elementary school students.
- Production of a radio program (Radio IUA and Brava FM).
- Contact with students who forested the small square at Francia Ave. and Pascual Gattás more than 4 decades ago.
