DELF EXAMS AT THE IUA

What is DELF?

The Diplôme d’Etudes de Langue Française (DELF) is an official document of international validity, issued by the Ministry of Education of the French Republic, to certify the level of French proficiency of non-native speakers around the world. Unlike other language certifications, the DELF is valid on a permanent basis.

Who manages it?

France Éducation International (FEI) – until 2019 Centre de Recherches d’Etudes Pédagogiques (CIEP) – of France is in charge of managing the evaluation process for all French language learners who wish to certify their proficiency in the language. To this end, it delegates to various educational institutions around the world the authority to apply and evaluate the DELF tests.

What does it consist of?

DELF comprises the first four levels of proficiency described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (Council of Europe, 2001):

A1 and A2 (Elementary User), B1 and B2 (Independent User).

Each DELF level evaluates separately the four basic communicative operations: reception and oral production; reading and written production.

What are the benefits?

Possessing an official certification in French is an excellent letter of introduction and a valuable element in any person’s academic or professional résumé. Depending on the level, the holder of a DELF will have greater possibilities of participating in academic exchanges to a French-speaking country, or of entering a French institution of higher education.

THE IUA IS DISTINGUISHED WITH THE SEAL OF QUALITY FOR PEDAGOGICAL EXCELLENCE BY FRENCH GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES.

The Ambassador of France in Uruguay, Mr. Hugues Moret, announced and congratulated the Instituto Uruguayo Argentino for obtaining this prestigious international label: “The award of this label is a double recognition: of the competence of the IUA’s management team, under his authority; and of the high quality and sustained commitment of its teaching team in French”.

IUA + LabelFrancÉducation
BELLES NOUVELLES!

The French Minister of Foreign Affairs awards this label to the IUA following the advice of an Interministerial Advisory Commission; on July 20, 2020, the LabelFrancÉducation commission meeting in Paris, composed of representatives of the Ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires Étrangères, the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE – Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Étranger), the Mission Laique Française, the Institut Français, the Ministère de l’Éducation Nationale, de la Jeunesse et des Sports, France Éducation International and the Canopé Network, have distinguished our school with the quality mark for French-speaking bilingual education.

This seal is awarded to educational institutions of French-speaking excellence that offer reinforced French language teaching. The institutional and international character of the label, the quality and the high standards of the teaching it certifies, the guarantee of excellence it implies and the services associated with obtaining it, constitute additional benefits for the training of students.

The IUA thus joins a powerful network of 441 institutions (August 2020), present in 58 countries.

More than 200 million people speak French on 5 continents. 68 states and governments declare themselves French-speaking, with French being the official language in 33 countries, in the diplomatic world and in many international organizations such as the Red Cross, the UN, UNESCO, the IMF and the European Union. French is the second most learned language in the world after English and is the third language of the Internet.

The IUA has valued the importance of spreading French culture through the teaching of this language, which is why it has been part of its curriculum since 1982. French is incorporated from the 5th year of Primary School and is continued in Secondary School, enabling students to obtain the DELF and DALF diplomas, awarded by the French Ministry of National Education.
