Sports field

In addition to the closed stadium and the natural and synthetic turf fields, at the IUA Sports Field, students and their families enjoy the barbecue, the indigenous flora forest, the small town with a square and town hall, the Geometry Walk, the Weaving Workshop, with spinning wheel and looms, among other curiosities.
The synthetic turf field for field hockey practice was inaugurated by the National Women’s Hockey Team, Las Cimarronas, holding a clinic for girls and young women.
Students, teachers and parents attend the WEAVING WORKSHOP, where they learn different techniques in the art of weaving and felting. Parades are held with the various garments and accessories produced in the workshop, which are very gratifying for spectators and creators. It is very rewarding for the students to see the whole process of the wool, from the shearing of the alpaca, which coexists with the children, through the spinning on the spinning wheel and finally the assembly of the balls of yarn.
With the oranges harvested at the IUA Sports Field, the children make orange marmalade every year. They design the labels themselves, participate in the packaging and give the finished product as a gift to their families.
In the PASEO DE LA GEOMETRÍA (GEOMETRY WALK) the students study mathematics live by working with three-dimensional representations of geometric bodies; figures and sculptures that combine the aesthetic and didactic aspects, decorating the CAMINO DE LOS NARANJOS (Orange Blossom Path) together with the orange blossoms.
Kindergarten students travel around the IUA Sports Field in a sort of stagecoach pulled by a horse that everyone loves, watch the peacock dances, feed the baby goats, see chicks hatch in the incubator and appreciate scale recreations of “The Three Little Pigs” and “Pinocchio”, traditional stories with profound messages. The games of the past, such as hoops, spinning tops, and ball games, represented on murals, are other novel attractions that can be enjoyed and even practiced.

NATURAL SCIENCES - IUA'S INCUBATOR HAS BEEN HATCHING FOR THREE DECADES WITHOUT INTERRUPTION
Yesterday (April 17, 2019) 7 chicks were born in the incubator installed at the IUA Sports Field.
The observation of the hatching process, from the moment a chick breaks with great effort the shell that contains it, then stands on its two little legs and raises its little head blinking, is a touching enjoyment for any spectator, whether child or adult. It is also a touching experience to see how the chirping can be heard from inside the eggs.

MINI WILDLIFE RESERVE
At the IUA we have proven, throughout our history, that closeness and bonding with animals enhance the healthy social and emotional development of children: their interaction fosters maturity and independence and feelings of competence and security, brings wellbeing and joy and experiential education, in fundamental values such as empathy.
Since 2005 we have been accompanied by a white alpaca, “Blanquito”, who came from Reserva Tálice with his brown parents (the latter have passed away). This alpaca is the school mascot. Very adaptable, he greets visitors with a characteristic kiss on the nose and even integrates normally as a spectator in outdoor classes, with an observant attitude, without causing any disturbance. She shows preferential attention to children. Every two years we shear her in the presence of the preschool students. The wool obtained is spun on the spinning wheel and after the process to be used, it remains at the disposal of the weaving workshop. In 2021 we received Brownie, a one-and-a-half-year-old chocolate-colored alpaquita.
Dwarf goats, peacocks and pheasants enliven the tour around the Sports Field, which was also a shelter for a ñacurutú that lost a wing in a hunting accident and found refuge in our School.
