My name is Joaquín Thul, I am 29 years old and I am currently living in London, England, for about 5 years. I entered the IUA when I was 2 years old, in level 2, and I did all of Pre-school, Primary and practically all of Secondary, up to 5th grade of high school, at the IUA. From Level 2 I started to learn English and I went all the way through international exams, from Trinity in Primary, to FCE, CAE and Proficiency, and that was something that sometimes, at the beginning, you don't find much value in not knowing what use you are going to give to English, it is something that you end up valuing much later, when you realize that you leave with a language level preparation that you see that it is excellent.
To tell the truth, I was lucky to have a bilingual schooling because it helped me to get into my university (where all my courses are in English) and to get my internship. Nowadays having a good level in English is mandatory. And speaking Spanish and, in my case, French and Portuguese, made my supervisors have no doubts about my admission and getting the internship.
I am very proud of the education I received; it is a big part of who I am today. The school, and my parents of course, gave me three incredible and fundamental things that I treasure: opportunity, the spirit of collaboration and an open-minded attitude.
It must have been useful for me to know English! Most of these articles and some of the books I mention are in English and are not available in Spanish, and I sometimes find that not everyone understands English or knows how to read and analyze texts in English, something that comes almost naturally to me thanks to my previous education.
I am extremely convinced that the skills acquired throughout my years of study at the Instituto Uruguayo Argentino have prepared me for this.
